Going to phuket and bangkok in 4 weeks. Just wondering where the good markets are in phuket and how much i should pay for bags and stuff cos i dont want to get ripped off. Also im only going to bangkok for 2 days so where should i go for shopping? are the weekend markets worth visiting? Any good tips would be appreciated thanks xx

**For Bangkok**

Shopping Malls

CentralWorld ::

This centre comprises of the ZEN, Isetan and Duty Free shopping centres, with hundreds of additional small shops to go with it. It is opposite the Grand Hyatt Hotel and is the most central of all the shopping locations.

Open: from 10 am to 9pm.

::Siam Square::

This is a small area with lots of excellent shops can be found. The Hard Rock Cafe and CM2 disco is also in this vicinity or area.

::MBK (Maboonkrong)::

MBK (Maboonkrong) is 6 floors of little shops that sell assorted goods. Everything can be bought here at very good prices. It is hectic and busy especially at the weekend.

Open: from 10 am to 9 pm.

Siam Paragon : on Rama I Rd.

The Pride of Bangkok. This is the biggest upscale shopping complex in Thailand and South East Asia. It includes a variety of high-end stores, restaurants and entertainment complex, offering so many fantastic leisure activities. It is neighbored by Siam Center and Siam Skytrain Station.

Markets

::Chatuchak Weekend Market:: Chatuchak

The famous weekend market is a MUST when in Bangkok. This market is muster many things such as books,a small image of Buddha,souvenir,trees,pets,clothes,shoes… etc. Everything can find in this place.

Open: 7am.to about 7 pm.

::Tawanna::Bangkapi

Is located on Ladprao Road , near The Mall Bangkapi. This market is IT center of Bangkapi and very interesting for who always change your fasion. And the cost is not expensive.We can find every stlye of hot fasions.

Open: 2pm.to about 9pm.

when i was in bangkok i found that phantip plaza and MBK are the places to go for all your electical goods and you can pick up mp5's for around 20 quid if you haggle.but be awear that if you get a lap top the warrenty will be void if you bring it back. as for phuket i stayed in patong and not sure of the spelling but jonclong shopping plaza was quite good its at the opposite end of bangla road from the beach naer thai boxing arena, for bags and t-shirts walk past the plaza until you find the market i was picking up prada holdals fo about 15 quid and armani tops for about 4 quid. there is two other markets in kamala which if you offer 400bht to a taxi driver he'll take you they are on monday,wednesday,friday and saturday.there is also a really good massage shop called perfect massage,the staff are really nice and look after you and its not seedy also when your in bangkok if you near the rembandt hotel go to the spar opposite when you arrive as it will sort you out after the long flight, when i first went to bangkok i made the mistake of going to sleep when i arrived and lost a days shopping and ended up rushing around also another thing if you are at the rembrandt the taxis that sit accross the road try to rip you of so get the hotel to call a taxi for you. hope this is some help have a great time and if you need any more help im here

For BKK...There are many shopping places in Sukhumvit , Siam and Silom. The most popular shopping place in Bangkok would be Siam Area ,this is the centre of fashion. If you want to buy brand-name goods,go to Siam Centre and Siam Discovery Department store . MBK is for the medium price and there are many small shops on Siam Square alley is provides many kind of products with reasonable prices . Another shopping place is Jatujak Market,there are over 15000 small shops with varities product and you asked seller for the discounted price.

In Phuket you'll find small shops all over. I personally like Kata. The sales persons in Patong are very agressive. Price wise it depends upon Quality also for fake stuff. Never pay the price indicated and bargain a lot. Start always with half what they tell you. For more "sophisticated" shopping you might try Jungceylon,Robinson or Central Festival but they are rather expensive.

Cannot give you price range as it depended on stlye, quality etc.

I don't know much about where to shop in Phuket. Wellknown shopping mall in Bnagkok is at Maboonkrong center. Or if you want some brand names you can cross the road to another side in SiamParagon, the biggest shopping mall in SEA. Flake designer brands are at Patpong Soi 2 but only at night, can access from Silom Rd where Skytrain and Subway can be transfered for each other. At weekend, Jutujak market is the must go, accesses from SkyTrain or Subway are avialable.

Do bargain at least 30-40% down, don't show off too much interesting while making a bargain.

Have a great time.
