youv'e watched the movie(the beach) once too often friend.As others have said ain't no such place.Phang-nga is on the bus route down to Phuket and isn't an island as such,not in the resort destination sense,more like a day trip.If you mean Koh Phaghan (or any of the million other ways to spell it) ,you need to be on the other side of the peninsular(look for Koh Samui on your map)
You can get a bus/ferry in either direction,Phuket/Samui/Phaghan and is quite an interesting trip,especially the ferry crossing Donsak-Nathon or Suratthanni/Phaghan and will cost around 500baht single.Prices can vary a lot but wont break the bank.You are right if you do mean Phang-Nga for a stop-off,there is quite a bit to see there,but is very much a tourist trap.You will see the sea gypsies,bond island and will most likely go kayaking in the sea caves......pleasant enough ,but a bit conveyor belt like....If youv'e never been to Thailand before,we can give you one guarantee..........you will be back!
You means Koh Pha-Ngan or Phang-Nga Province?
